The project adventure diversity and experience young people between 14 and 19 years as they can pass on a positive approach to diversity through theater improvisation and theater games.

This acquired intercultural competence and manual four graduates of the project adventure diversity in two indoor schools with children's groups from April to July 2010 have worked as a youth companion.

The youth crew team for the primary school consisted of Steinbach Mira Scherrer and Jannik whites.


Jannik talk about his experience as a youth companion: work

The idea of youth as a companion liked it right from the start. It was clear that for Mira and me will be a very challenging task. But it ultimately is so much fun and I did not stop after the eight hours of practice wish I had not thought of.

On Friday the 30th April 2010 at 13:30 clock we have as our first practice session at the elementary school Steinbach of ten children, a boy and nine girls youth companion begun. In the run-Mira and I had been concerned, wanted to work with what we practice, but we could not say what goals we wanted to pursue with the children. Of course we had some ideas on how to look for such diversity and uniqueness in the group and to find or promote the spontaneity of children, such as through improvisation exercises.

After the first two times it was so far: We have noticed that the children during the whole hour and a half were quiet enough or not properly could concentrate if we did exercises in the exchange, where concentration and soon stood in the foreground action. For this reason, Mira and I decided to design our new hours and to plan in two parts:

first part: Action, physically Build up a sweat and have fun, by example, various fishing games. So we wanted to achieve, that the children busy after the school and the many sitting and then move on 2 Part of the hour are ready to focus again.

second part: physical self-perception, improvisation, interaction / community and diversity, in exercises in which the important thing to focus on themselves or on the group .

When we worked this planning transpose it had (fortunately) just as we imagined it. Also for the children it was important to have a clear structure to which they could talk. By example, a game the option of the children before the interval from 1 for the 2 Part, could produce Mira and I have a little highlight what the children could look forward to.

The children are enthusiastic to the point. We work very much like them to me and I am also happy with us. I think they have made an incredible development, especially in terms of spontaneity, trust in the Group and in the (theater) games. It often happened that I was amazed at what great ideas they came, when it went free to play and improvise. Each of them has its own strengths. One may hold great speeches, gesture, another good turn.

At first I was concerned because we had only one boy in the group. But this negative fear she has placed quickly because there were no problems between the boys and girls. We also have a girl with disabilities in our ranks, for it is not always easy for different Exercises to do with. But it is from us, but above all the other kids, which I think is wonderful, taken through this time.

We have all worked together on a presentation for parents and students of the children. This desire was expressed by the group itself and we've all been looking forward to it. In it, we do games and exercises that make the kids happy, or super can perform and thus show the parents and teachers what we have all done together and done.

The presentation took place on the last day, after the end of the regular unit. We were all very excited, the kids, Mira and me. But above all, we were very pleased at the performance. It worked wonderfully. The children played more accurately than in the samples and also got great applause for their great performance. It gave them a lot of fun, and you have seen them that they enjoy the game.

Me and Mira, I think I can talk to them too, are very glad to have made such an experience and have great interest with the children to carry on.
