Since early November, has started the winter break for good. End of October I had a few short days sailing days of the season in Lorient with Dan Dytch, another mini sailor, Boris Herrmann. Dan and I were in Concarneau also a little private tour of Boris' Open 60 "Neutrogena" with which he takes on New Years Eve on the Barcelona World Race. After some minor maintenance work, I have my "Rikki Tikki" winterized, which eliminated almost all the equipment stored in my store room at AOS and leave the boat as dry and tight as possible. Thus the active season was over 2010, with a good feeling, because it could hardly have gone better. Without greater Fracture and with enough miles for a qualifying Minitransat I now have the ideal conditions for the season 2011. I can fully concentrate on the Transat train, and can have no more pressure in the preparatory regattas. Am 04.12. I was able to register as one of the first for the Minitransat 2011, the Boat Show "Salon Nautic 'in Paris. The launch site is thus virtually certain, I am very happy. And sometimes a bit nervous.
winter break this year but not the right word for the period between November and mid-February because of break is really no time. For weeks, I'm on sponsors and is now small successes show. Nevertheless, the search goes on, because some items in the budget are still open, or at least questionable. Also wants the sailors' preparation are well planned. The puzzle pieces from different training opportunities, time for maintenance and repairs, racing, available vacation days, travel time and logistics on the ground I add anew together a good program and not to close together. I use the winter time also for me to deal with topics such as meteorology and theoretical strategy wants to give me some thoughts on equipment lists and nutrition during the Transat and prepare myself for a physically demanding training schedule in a season before. Thus, the winter and fly by until I can hopefully complete in February, the first training sail off the French Coast. So probably rather no winter break, but the winter season.
